We've had some great mystery readers lately. One of our readers read "Snowman Magic" by Katherine Tegen. This is a sweet book about a boy who goes outside on a snow day and makes a snowman that magically comes to life. The story was well-enjoyed and so cute - as were the snowballs each of the students received to help them remember the story. Our next mystery reader read the story "George Washington's Teeth" by Deborah Chandra and Madeleine Comora. We learned from this funny book that George Washington lost a tooth a year from the time he was 24 till he lost all but one of his natural teeth, the year he became president. Contrary to popular belief, he never had wooden teeth. His teeth were actually made of ivory, brass, and gold. To help take care of our teeth, the students were given a tooth brush and toothpaste. The students truly enjoyed both readers! For National Children's Dental Health Month, we also had a mom, who works in a local dentist office, come and teach us about good oral health care. She used legos with playdough to teach the students how to floss, which they really enjoyed. The students each received a bag of supplies to help take good care of their teeth. Comments are closed.
