We had a mystery reader by the name of Johnny Unitas who read a couple great sports books (Ok, it wasn't Johnny Unitas, but he had Johnny Unitas' shirt on). The books taught us that winning wasn't as important as trying our best and having fun! And since this group is so smart and understood that lesson quickly, they all received a St. Joseph Shamrocks trophy from our mystery reader to help us remember the great stories and lesson behind them!
We had a mystery reader to help us celebrate St. Patrick's Day. She brought leprechaun hats and light up rings for everyone and then she read Lucille Colandro's There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Clover. After the book, she shared cinnamon buns decorated with shamrocks. What great fun!
Ms. Pam and some of the best volunteers a school could ask for put together an awesome winter carnival from popcorn to cotton candy to games and prizes!
I can't express how much I was moved by the beautiful painting, the card, and the wonderful sentiment behind it! The kindness and generosity shown to me by these students and their wonderful parents has been truly appreciated and has truly helped to lift me and my family! My brother and his kids also wanted me to express their gratitude for the very generous gift cards. He also expressed gratitude for the card in which the students each signed their names - he enjoyed reading it. The picture is hanging in our office at my new house and I'm very proud of it!
We had a mystery reader this week who read a most appropriate book for us since we just returned from a big snow break. He read Katy and the Big Snow by Virginia Lee Burton. He enlisted the children to help him read the book every time Katy had to "chug, chug, chug" in the story. The students enjoyed the book and the cookies afterward!
