I want to take a moment to say thank you for such a wonderful year! This group of wonderfully bright, energetic, and kind-hearted students will always hold a special place in my heart. I want to thank both the students and parents who gave me an end of the year gift or stopped to share kind words! It was a great year! Have an amazing summer and I will see you again next school year!

![]() In science class our first graders are raising tadpoles. We have two species of local frogs, a small frog and bullfrogs. We have five bullfrog tadpoles, all which have sprouted both front and back legs and two which have fully matured into frogs. About half of our ten small tadpoles have sprouted both front and back legs. Above is a picture of one of frogs (on the left) and one of our adult tadpoles (on the right). I have told the students that if they want to take a tadpole or a frog home and release it in a local creek or pond, they could but only if I got a note from mom or dad that said they could have one. They should be released relatively quickly or put into an aquarium with a small amount of water (enough for them to swim) but low enough that they can get on a rock and stick their heads out of water to breathe. They will die if there is any chlorine in the water at all, so the water does not stay clean even for a day. I would not put them in with fish because the frogs will eat the fish if the fish are small enough. The tadpoles came from a local creek, so they can be released into local creeks or ponds. |
