We had a wonderful stay-at-home field trip today! Roberta and Mike Straka, our visiting paleontologists, were awesome! Of course their friends were pretty incredible too! They brought an 8-foot Triceratops skull named Mr. Dixon, which their team discovered in 1996 and a complete Albertosaurus skull with all its teeth named Elvis. They taught us a lot about dinosaurs and paleontology, they did some singing and magic, and they entertained everyone! What a great show! After the show, all the kids got in teams of four and dug for real fossils. Each student brought their field sheet home to show you how many fossils they discovered. Our field trip didn't stop there. We had a pizza party complete with chips, popcorn, and ice cream. We also rotated with kindergarten and second grade to each of three fun events: games in the gym with Mrs. Biggins, paper mache dinosaur eggs with Mrs. Hagarman and Mrs. McCusker, and a dinosaur movie and dance with Sister Sue. Each of the students got to bring home a real fossil from 65 billion years ago!
