Our mystery readers, one mom and one Lorax, came to teach us about the importance of taking care of the Earth. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Dr. Seuss' The Lorax, it was Dr. Seuss' favorite story. It is about the Lorax, a small orange creature that speaks for the trees because "they have no tongues". He is against the Once-ler chopping down the trees to make thneeds. It is a great book for all ages as it tackles the serious topics of corporate greed and taking care of the environment in a fun and interesting way that helps children understand the importance of taking care of the Earth. As a special surprise, all of the students got to pick a pack of seeds to take home and plant from the seed bucket. Some students picked vegetables, some fruits, and some flowers.
