We had an elephant-size good time with our mystery reader! She read Elmer and the Hippos, a book about hippos, elephants, learning to get along and helping one another. Digging a little deeper, it's a book about water, the environment, and global citizenship. And it's all told using Elmer, a patchwork elephant with a big heart. He's a character we love in first grade! After our story, the students each colored their own Elmer and had an elephant lollipop.
