We had a great first week of school! We did many activities to help us get back in the swing of things at school. We did a science experiment that helped us see the difference between colored vegetables and colorful candy. We used this experiment to discuss healthy eating habits. We used the board, iPads, hot dots, and sight word games to review kindergarten skills. We finished our first round of DIBELS language arts testing. Each day we added a new subject to our school routine, starting with religion on Monday. We've been to every specials class and we discussed school rules and recess rules. The students created two school rules to begin the year with: When someone else is talking, we should be quiet and listen. We should keep our hands (and feet) to ourselves. The students, themselves, decided these would be two great rules to follow at school! What a great start!
Our specials schedule has been finalized now. We have library on Wednesdays, which means library books should be returned on Tuesday. We also have music on Wednesday. We have gym and guidance on Thursday, which means students should wear their gym uniform every Thursday, unless you get a note saying otherwise from me. Fridays, the students have art and computer.
On Friday, the students had the opportunity to meet their prayer partners. The third grade will be our prayers partners for the year. This is a wonderful program. The students will meet with their prayer partners multiple times throughout the year and we will lift them up in prayer and they will do the same for us throughout the school year.
Below are some pictures of the first week. It has been a great week and I can tell things are only going to get better!
