We had two mystery readers this week. Our first mystery reader read "The Day the Crayons Came Home" by Drew Daywalt. This book is a funny sequel to "The Day the Crayons Quit" and the students found it very entertaining. In the story, the lost crayons each wrote a postcard telling Duncan what has happened to them since he lost them. They have been left places, melted, and even puked up by the dog! And even though we all laughed throughout the book, the story reminds us that everyone belongs at home! After the story, we enjoyed lime green jello (one of the characters in the book was lime green crayon) and each received neon crayons (another character in the book). Our second mystery reader was a St. Patrick's Day surprise. She read "There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover!" by Lucille Colandro. The old lady is at it again, swallowing all kinds of funny things, all St. Patrick's Day themed this time! The students love this series and this one did not disappoint! After the story, we enjoyed St. Patrick's Day cookies and Lucky Charms marshmallows. Yum!! Upcoming Dates:
Tuesday, March 22: Winter Carnival Friday, April 1: School Mass (the first graders will be reading) Wednesday, April 13: Early dismissal 11:45 Thursday, April 14 - Monday, April 18: No school for Easter break Friday, May 5: K-5 Creature Experience Tuesday, May 17: Grade 1 field trip Friday, May 27: Last day of school; 11:45 dismissal
