The first grade celebrated our Catholic Schools Week theme, May God be with You, with a STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Star Wars project today. The students were given uncooked spaghetti noodles and mini marshmallows to build a Rebel Alliance look-out tower. The taller the tower, the farther away they could spot the Empire attacking, so they were supposed to make it as tall as they could get it to stand by itself until time ran out. They had to work as a group, listen to everyone in the group's ideas, and every group member had to participate in the building. They had to decide the best shape for their towers and bases, the best size of the tower to make it sturdy, and when to stop building so it would stand on its own for the whole time period. They did an amazing job and had a lot of fun!
