MAY MESSAGE

May is the month to honor Mary our Mother and Mother of the Church. In our classroom, we will be crowning the Statue of Our Lady everyday. We as a school will also say a decade of the Rosary each day for morning prayers. We will all gather to have a living Rosary in May to foster devotion to Mary.

**** Our second grade class received a flag from Finley Miller's Uncle Greg that was flown on Missions over Afghanistan. What an honor for us. It will be placed in a case at school with the official citation. we pray for his platoon everyday and have made and sent prayer cards.

Curriculum Update and Information
Reading comprehension is much more difficult this trimester. There will often be headings within the story, and captions with information; There will be more cause/effect and inference skills. Children will be asked to write responses for given literature. We will be gathering information from varied resources. The students will be reviewing all Robust vocabulary words too. * We are done our Dibels Testing.

Please review the addition and subtraction facts up to 18. We will be working on a Math Review booklet that has a variety of skills that need to be reviewed. We all finished our Math Assessment Test.

We enjoyed our BOXTOP winnings afternoon on Thursday, MAY 2nd
Movie, popcorn, and drink were provided.

Also, our class will be going on our Field Trip to the Industrial Museum in York, Pa.  It is an opportunity for children to go back in time and see how people lived and what they experienced in everyday life. Looking forward to this big day. We can take pictures inside the Museum.
