Homework will consist of a weekly spelling list that will be given out at the beginning of the week and the test will be given at the end of the week ( usually Friday). If we have a very short week ( 3 days or less) we will not have a test that week. The students will most likely have a weekly reading assignment as well. This assignment will be given at the beginning of the week (usually Monday) and will be due back the following Monday. This way the students can have the weekend to read, if they do not have the time throughout the week. The students will also normally receive one daily homework assignment that will be due back the following day. I keep track of homework assignments. Incomplete work will be made up during a student's free time, such as recess. I will also send a note home if/when the student has repeated missing assignments.

Here is what we've been working on
Phonics: We have been reviewing consonant diagraphs and combinations.
Reading: We are reading "Dogs" and focusing on the main idea in stories and in paragraphs.
English and Grammar: We are continuing to work on types of sentences; questions, statements, exclamations, and commands. We are also studying the two parts to a sentence; subject and predicate. Learning to write a paragraph with a main idea and details is something we are working on as well.
Math: We continue to work on basic addition and subtraction, but we also practiced skip counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's and reviewed even and odd numbers. We are also working on 2D and 3D shapes.
Science: We finished up our plant unit and are now studying animal types and animal life cycles.
Social Studies: We spent time learning about Christopher Columbus and we talked about rules and responsibilities.
Religion: We are learning about the 10 commandments in preparation for First Reconciliation.
