A Third Grade Parent meeting is Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 5:30. I hope to see you there.
Dear Parent/Guardian of Upcoming Third Grader:
In order to maintain reading skills and continue to increase your child’s reading comprehension, I am requesting that he/she participate in a summer reading program. I’ve included a bingo sheet (attached below) for your son/daughter to complete throughout the summer. For every piece of reading material they complete, color the corresponding bingo box. I ask that you initial the box after the student has filled in. It may be a book of their choice, preferably a chapter book of an appropriate level. Upon their return to school in August 2016, students will be required to turn in the summer reading project. . Please be aware that your local library also offers a reading program and activities they may participate in throughout the summer. Here is a list of books that may interest your son/daughter:
The Keeping Quilt by Patricia Polacco
Miss Nelson is Missing by Harry Allard
Mr. Popper’s Penguins by Richard Atwater
Encyclopedia Brown series by Donald. J. Sobol
Judy Moody series by Megan McDonald
I Survived series by Lauren Tarshis
Amelia Bedelia series by Peggy Parish
Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne
Marvin Redpost series by Louis Sachar
Please note that these are just some suggestions; they are not required to read them. Remember every piece of material they read can only help. I wish you an enjoyable, safe, and relaxing summer! I can’t wait to meet you in August.
