Dear Parents and Students:
Welcome to fourth grade! I am looking forward to meeting each of you and sharing an exciting new school year.
A Fourth Grade Parent meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2017 in the fourth grade classroom to discuss the upcoming school year.
Listed below are the supplies that will be needed for fourth grade. Please have these items available by the beginning of the school year.
FOURTH GRADE SUPPLIES:
1 pencil case (NO boxes please)
4 sharpened No. 2 pencils (NO pencil sharpeners please)
1 yellow highlighter
1 twelve inch ruler
Crayons (24 or less; NO markers or Sharpies)
1 pack of lined loose leaf paper
A stationery fee of $5.00 for copybooks is due by August 25, 2017.
OPTIONAL: A donation to the classroom of tissues and/or disinfecting wipes would be greatly appreciated.
Summer Reading Project for Students Entering 4th Grade:
1. Choose one of the following books to read:
Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White
The Indian in the Cupboard by Lynn Reid Banks
Mr. Popper’s Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater
James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo
2. After reading the book, complete the following project:
Using the attached paper, create a film strip summarizing the story that you have read. Each box should have an original (made by you) drawing of a scene from the story. The scenes should be in order from the beginning of the story to the end. Each box should be used (there is a front and a back on the paper) and should have a sentence either in the box or in the space below it telling what is occurring. Your film strip will be due on August 25, 2017.
*Extra film strip papers can be obtained in the Elementary School office.
JUST A REMINDER...!
The following supplies are needed for your child's art bag:
1. An art shirt-one that is large enough to fit over the student's clothes (e.g. old t-shirt of sibling or parent)
2. 4 No. 2 pencils
3. 1 small eraser
4. A box of crayons 16 or 24 count
5. A box of colored pencils
6. A box of markers
7. 4 glue sticks-we use these up quickly
All of the same supplies above and the addition of one black sharpie marker (must be a permanent one)
Students will also need a small (5" x 7" or so) notebook to be used as an art journal. The typical small, lined type.
