After a late start to the week, we did what we could this week. A few things were rescheduled, but all in all, we made it. The Greek projects and book report shoe boxes look great! The students told me they really enjoyed working on them and sharing them with their classmates too!
We are all ready for CSW to start on Sunday. Opening Liturgy is Sunday at 9:00 with the Education Fair to follow. I'll have samples of student work for you to peruse. Please stop by if you can. We have lots of fun activities planned through the week. Check out the yellow brochure or school website for daily events. 5th grade is also planning the closing liturgy for next Friday.
For the parent lunch on Thursday: You must send in a signed note by Wednesday morning if you plan to take your child home with you Thursday after the lunch is over. If this is not at school and handed in by Wednesday morning, your student will ride the bus back to the elementary school for the afternoon. At this point, I've only received one note.
Thank you for your quick replies about wanting to be a chaperone for the trip in April. If you have NEVER held clearances to volunteer at school or athletics, I can get you directions on how to do so. Most others should find the "update" directions on the link in my email a few days ago.
Also, if you replied that you could help out with the workbooks, your child is coming home with a bag today. The students are VERY excited to get these in their desks! Thank you so much for your help!
Wednesday: Math Ch 5 Test
Thursday: Prayer to St. Francis Test
(Yes, this is a prayer test change from the list I provided at the start of the year.)
Friday: Spelling Bee
(This will not be a test grade - but a CW grade. Students will show active participation and effort to earn this grade - not necessarily memorizing/learning every word on the list.)
If you have spare grocery store ads from the weekend paper you aren't using, we can use them for a project this coming week. Giant, Weis, etc. ads would be great!
Have a great weekend!
We've been busy with Greek culture, Parts of the Mass, and lots of decimals this week! The work the students did at school for their Gods & Goddesses project show me that they have made good use of our time in the computer lab plus the books I brought in from the Hanover Library for them to use. If anyone needs index cards to display their information, I have some available in the classroom for them to use.
We have one project for finish for CSW next week and the students are very excited for it. The classrooms will be having a door-decorating contest and we have some design work to do.
Tuesday: Rel: POM Test
Wednesday: CE Due
SS Gods & Goddesses Project due
Thursday: Science Ch 6 Test
Friday: Spelling Lesson 15
Bk Rep & Rdg Log Due
Have a great weekend! Good luck with the impending snow storm! Stay warm!
Halfway through January already! That went fast. We've still been busy doing a few things to prepare for CSW and keeping up with our studies. The past few days, we spent time learning about the importance of MLK Day and why we should continue to revisit the lessons from it. We learned about MLK's great achievements and even wished him a happy birthday! (It is today!)
We began research this week for a Gods and Goddesses project for SS as well. The students are enjoying learning lots of new information as we've worked in the computer lab. Each students has an information sheet detailing what information should be researched plus a grading sheet for what points will be earned on. Information will be displayed on the legal-sized file folder each student received. They can chose how to design/display their information on the folder.

Have a great weekend!
Well the week started on a very unexpected note and ended the same way! On Monday, I was asked to go the Middle School and help out Mrs. Weaver for the day. Its hard to say no to Mrs. Blake so off I went. Ms. Smith swooped in and saved the day, taking our class into her room for the day, simultaneously teaching both classes! The students - all of them - got a good report and had "Thank You" snacks on Tuesday. On Friday, I had my own situation I had to take care of and that meant picking up my own little ones at lunchtime and bringing them to school until the end of the day. We used the 45 minutes between lunch and Art at the end of the day to work on CSW projects. The students enjoyed taking turns playing with Avalyn and tickling Wyatt's toes! (So the mini-Maurers are to blame for me not getting this out on Friday.)
In other news, we were able to celebrate our 2nd place finish in Penny Wars from December with our kickball game with 2nd grade on Thursday. The students were intermingled with our class and lots of fun was had by all! 2nd grade finished Penny Wars in first place with -667 and we came in a close second with -964. Altogether, the entire school raised $1,261 - a remarkable number! All of these funds have been donated to the Missionary Childhood Association. AWESOME JOB!!!!
Progress Report envelopes will be coming home on Tuesday. Remember, if you are not able to view grades online, sign and return the white page. As of now, grades are updated and include a pop English Adjectives Quiz and a Spelling Test from 1/8/16.
Hopefully, you've heard about our schedule for this coming week from your child as I asked everyone to write the following down in their HW books before we went to Art on Friday afternoon.
Tuesday: Rdg - WLT: A Christmas at Sea
Math Ch 3 Test
Wednesday: SS - CE Due
English Unit 4 Test
Friday: Spelling Less 13
Sci Ch 6 Less 1-2 Quiz
$1 Dress Down Day on Friday to support keeping Yearbook costs down.
Yellow CSW Parent Lunch RSVP should be completed and returned as Mrs. Sheridan (MS Secretary) will need to start working on a seating arrangement ASAP. Seating for this event in similar to seating for a wedding reception. Also, Elementary students have permission slips to be returned as well for bus transportation to the MS for this event.
Have a wonderful week!
