Just some quick updates:
* The class enjoyed making "Peep Popes" today.
* Students should plan for an English Test next Wednesday: Unit 5 - Capitalization & Punctuation
* We will have a Science Ch 10 Test Thursday/Friday.
* NO SPELLING NEXT WEEK
* Big thanks for the donations of tissues and markers that came in! We will certainly be putting these to good use! The students were excited to see the bright colors!
* Have a wonderful Easter celebration with your family and friends. Enjoy the break.
Another productive week completed! I can't believe we are almost to Easter and March is whizzing by! Spring arrived on Wednesday, but we have yet to see any warming trends. The kids enjoyed the excitement of our visitors early in the week and we had one more today: Mrs. Kilkelly came in to give the students updates on the Spiritual Adoption Program. Our class really enjoys hearing updates of how the unborn babies have grown since her last visit.
Next Wednesday, there will be a dress-down day for a donation to the Missionaries to the Poor. Mrs. Mummert shared a poster made by Deacon Tom about the work he has done to help the mission in Jamaica. The students were excited to see the pictures of where the money goes to help those less fortunate than us.
If you have not already signed and returned the Report Card envelope, please do so Monday.

Have a nice weekend!
What big news this week! We've been talking in class about how a new pope is elected, but I surely didn't expect it to happen so quickly! It's just too bad that the students were at gym when the smoke appeared. I told them to go home and turn on the news and be a witness to such wonderful history in the making! We spent time on Thursday and Friday researching information about Pope Francis. Did you know he only has one lung? Ask your child for the background story. Lots of great info to share. We also celebrated Albert Einstein's birthday on Thursday. Finally, we spent time comparing the 2 men in a Venn-Diagram. The students came up with some great comparisons/similarities!
Our rescheduled Stations of the Cross went well yesterday. Ms. Keffer helped our students practice to be readers and picture assistants. We began and ended in song and it was a nice event to share with our younger students from grades 1-5.
Today, we participated in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In the words of Sr. Sue, "Our souls are all new and shiny again!" What a creative way to think about the sacrament!
A while back, we were getting low on glue supplies in the classroom and some kind donations came in to help us out. Now we seem to be in need of dry erase markers. We use our individual whiteboards often and we are noticing they are lightening. I find myself writing with one at ~1/week that ends up getting tossed because it doesn't work well enough. Also, our stash of tissues is dwindling at 3 boxes. With about 2.5 months of school left, that will be cutting it close. Any donations that you could send in of either item are appreciated! Thank you!
On Monday, please remind your student to bring in their Book It calendars. We usually put our minutes in halfway through the month as well as at the end, but today we just ran out of time. We will have a dress down day for St. Joseph Day on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we will excitedly welcome the first day of Spring. Report cards will also come home that day.

The Talent Show was a wonderful way to kick off the week! Great work to our 5th grade performers: Emma S., Annie, Joe, Emma T., and Kylie! We also had great assistants with Katie, Aaron, Bryce, and Maggie as stage crew and Michael as the emcee! Seeing the students shine in their talents is a wonderful way for them to share what God has blessed them with.
Due to a scheduling error - Stations of the Cross will be held next Thursday. Also, 5th grade will participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation next Friday. (Which also happens to be good timing for our Religion test next week!)
Today was the last day of the 2nd Trimester and we'll start fresh on Monday - in more ways than one. Please help encourage your children as I do in the classroom to foster an attitude of thoughtfulness and forgiveness through this season of Lent and these last few months of school. I appreciate your help at home!
Due to our snow day on Wednesday - there WILL be school on Tuesday, April 2.

Our class visited the Preschoolers today to share our favorite Dr. Seuss books and pictures we made. It was a lot of fun getting to know our younger school mates!
Well February is gone and onto March we go! We are working on looking forward to a bright March and leaving past mistakes behind! Now hopefully March will be kind to us to help us in doing so!
I'm short on time today so ask your child for a recaps of some of today/this week's events: book reports, Dr. Seuss's birthday, Mass, "Nothing Ever Happens...." stories, climate zones in science, sacraments of healing in Religion, and fractions, fractions, and more fractions in math!
