Hi Parents, Happy almost-Holy Week! Today, we have a regular test packet coming home. There will not be one coming home next week before break. Also, the only graded item will be our prayer test on Wednesday - The Angelus. Other than that, we'll have a few regular lessons mixed in with Holy Week lessons and some Easter fun. I hope everyone has a blessed Easter and a lovely Spring break! I won't have a newsletter next week. Field Trip permission slips due by 4/21. Remember, you don't need to send me any money, your child's tuition account will be billed. Have a great weekend! God Bless You! Enjoy our pictures below. We used Candyland to practice prepositional phrases! Hi Parents! Happy Spring!! Busy week here in 5th grade! We started Monday with gym class first thing in the morning, then off to Mass for St. Joseph Day. At mass, we also got to enjoy the visiting relics of St. Padre Pio. Everyone was able to take home a prayer card that we turned into a third class relic when it touched the relics of St Padre Pio. We've been having fun in Reading with our current story "The Dog Newspaper." We have imitated the style written by the author in her autobiography. We've been writing our own stories about our pets, dogs and cats, and how they have interesting lives. I've heard some great stories about them this week! Some of our favorites were about the infamous "screen door" and a previously intact full box of tissues! Our adding and subtracting of fractions and mixed numbers became more fluent this week. Soon, we'll be multiplying and dividing them. Then, off to the world of geometry! Our class has had so much fun learning about ancient Greece! I loved to see all the variations of the project ideas that came in this week. So many projects were a nice mixture of our class material and additional research. These projects were a hit! I'm posting a few photos on the website right after I send this email. Today, Friday, we went to Stations of the Cross with Father Miller. Mrs. Gilbert provided our class with booklets to follow along this path with Jesus. Next week: Monday: Rdg WLT Chasity lesson with Mrs. Hutchinson Tuesday: DCHS Music in Our Schools trip Wednesday: SS CE Due Greece packet due Greece Test Thursday: Final Book It Bk Rep & Rdg log due Rel: Ch 15 Test Friday: Spelling Lesson 19 Test Math Ch 9 Test; Fraction/mixed # +/- Have a great weekend! God Bless You! 63 days until Summer break! But who's counting... Hi Parents! I can't believe we are in the 3rd trimester! The foot is definitely on the gas in 5th grade. We are in full-force middle school training now! Spring is right around the corner as well and we are looking for a positive change in the weather! Fr. Miller came in for a visit to talk to our class about friendship and love on Tuesday. I asked everyone to take some notes, write down 3 take-aways from his conversation with our class, and then bring it home to get it signed. I hope everyone was able to set a sense of the message that he wished to convey with the students. We had so much fun this week imitating Andrew Clement's character Greg in Lunch Money. He created his own comic and sold them at school! We made our own and traded a few, but selling wasn't allowed. :) I posted a few photos on the website. Also with those photos was a break we took earlier in the week when we saw some big snowflakes and had to go grab a snack and a new class picture. What fun! Next week: Tuesday: Rel Ch 14 Test Wednesday: SS CE Due Thursday: Friday: WLT #17 English 5.1-5.3 Quiz Have a great weekend! Don't forget to turn the clocks back on Saturday night! God Bless You! |
