Dear Parents of New 5th Graders, A huge part of my job as your child’s 5th grade teacher is to prepare the kids for the more fast-paced and independent role that they will play in the middle school setting. As the school year progresses, I raise my expectations and expect more from each student. Everyone will be at their own level, but will still be pushed to be and do their best. I also like to emphasize to the students in the beginning of the school year how they are now the role models of the elementary school and that their behavior should be of the highest standard. Classroom and individual consequences as well as privileges will be clear from the first week. Another thing I ask before we begin the next school year is that you contact me via email so I can start to compile a mailing list. I write a weekly newsletter that will be posted on the website every Friday, but your email addresses are handy for quick notes and weekly reminders. Please check the website before the end of the school year to see an example of the newsletter. Thank you very much for your time. I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing, and fun summer. I look forward to meeting a classroom of fresh faces on August 23rd, the first day of school. God Bless, Mrs. Lesley Maurer 5th Grade Teacher lmaurer@sjshanoverpa.org

Hi Parents! 9.5 days left! Holy cow! We still have a few things to finish up this coming week as grades are completed and report cards are being assembled. Here is a link to the end of year message I shared with the class from Bishop Gainer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcgUpwVdoKk It is only a few minutes if you have time to watch. Monday - Rel Rosary & HHQ Test Tuesday - Rel Ch 19 Test Rdg - WLT #20 Wednesday - CE Due (ONLY IF ON YOUR CHILD'S LAST CE I WROTE AND HIGHLIGHTED THEY HAVE ONE REMAINING) Some students are exempt from this last CE due to exemplary work through the year. If they chose to do a CE anyway, it will be counted as EC. Finally, I've put some photos of our class-planned liturgy last Friday on the website. I also was able to snap a few photos of the Talent Show this past Tuesday, Apologies I couldn't get a photo of all 5th grade performers as I was helping my daughter change for several acts she was in. All performers did an AMAZING job and you should be proud of all the talents you are fostering in your homes! Have a great weekend! God Bless You! |
