Religion: "We are a Worshiping People" & Bible practice with the New Testament

We were excited to see that the workbook fairy stopped by school and delivered the rest of our Spelling and English workbooks. Now we are only waiting on math workbook delivery and we'll be complete. Until then, photocopies will be provided.
The Wolfgang assembly to kick off the fundraiser was yesterday. Mrs. Knobloch spoke with the students about good selling practices and showed off some neat prizes. She also had 2 volunteers demonstrate the powers of the famous "money machine." You should have heard all the "ohhs and ahhs."
Note-taking in our copybooks is off to a good start. Cursive is to be used in copybooks and we work on maintaining neatness by taking our time and using rulers for lines. The students are doing well so far with their school and classroom jobs and I'm proud of how many of them have adapted so quickly to 5th grade rules and responsibilities.
Remember, our class is planning and practicing for school liturgy next week. Please join us if you are available. Mark your calendars now: our class mass will be Friday, October 11. This will be in the chapel. Also, check out our 5th grade page on the school website from time to time and I try to update at least once a week - sometimes with photos of our work/activities. There are pictures from Religion class on Wednesday.
Monday: NO SCHOOL - LABOR DAY
Wednesday: Reading WLT #1 (Weekly Lesson Test - Students may use the text to complete these comprehension/vocabulary assessments)
Religion Ch 1 Test
Thursday: 7 Sacraments Test
Friday: Spelling Lesson 2
Have a wonderful weekend!
Well, we survived the first few days! Although they were warm and humid, we got through lots of 5th grade and school rules, schedules, and procedure. We spent time talking about how to set up and write in our copybooks, what to keep in folders, covering textbooks, making groups for computer and library class, designing our journals, reviewing the school handbook, starting the "Prayer for Peace/Prayer to St. Francis," practiced 3 different drills, wrote down prayer tests and current events due dates, organized our HW books through the end of September, collected scissors, took a diagnostic math test, read a note of advice from a 5th grade graduate, and checked out things in the classroom like the prayer table, inbox/outbox, and supply shelves....among other things!
Yesterday we had our first guidance class and today we had our first art class. If you have not yet sent it in, our next art class won't be for 2 weeks (we are off next Friday), so you still have time. Supplies are the same: markers, crayons, colored pencils, 3 regular pencils, black sharpie, a small journal, 2 glue-sticks, and an eraser. A spare box of tissues and/or container wipes are helpful too as Mrs. Fagnani purchases these herself.
Now that most of the back-to-school business is taken care of, we will get down to 100% schoolwork starting on Monday. Anytime throughout the year, you may send in box tops, soda tabs, and Campbells labels.
Have a wonderful weekend!
