Forgive my late newsletter for the week - something came up that I needed to tend to on Friday.
Last week we had LOTS to do to study about and enjoy the Pope's visit to the US. We had the opportunity to watch various events live through the school days. The class enjoyed the experience of receiving the Pope's blessing through the TV when he was in Washington. We did Pope activities, Pope searches, Pope games, etc. What a wonderful memory for them!
Wednesday: Religion Ch Test
Friday: Spelling Lesson 5
Reading WLT ? (Or will be next wk.)
Today, conference time request papers are coming home. Please complete these and return to school ASAP so I can make the schedule for that day and send home confirmation slips. I will do my best to accommodate your availability that day.
Thursday is the first day of October. We will be saying a decade of the Rosary each morning with AM prayers. If the students have their own rosaries, they are welcome to bring them in, if not, I have some they may use.
Friday we will have First Friday's Liturgy. Join us if you can.
Have a nice evening.
We've been enjoying some cooler, yet still nice weather here at school. We are getting better at organizing our abundance of copied pages in their assorted homes. 80 days without a budget....for shame!
The Grade Portal has been updated with all grades through last Friday. Check as early and often as you'd like. I'll send an email each time I make updates so you know when to expect changes. (Login info was sent home this week on green papers.)
Next Friday are our school pictures. Students should dress nicely, but do not need to wear their uniform.

Great week here in 5th grade. On Wednesday, we enjoyed a back-to-school address via webcam with the Bishop. He prayed with us and even gave Q&A time. The kids really enjoyed this!
Today, we spent time this morning talking about 9/11. I shared a short video with the class reviewing the important timeline events of the morning - no worries, no gory details or pictures. I read the story "He Said Yes" about Father Mychal Judge and his heroic efforts that day. We shared stories about what they knew about the day why we remember it with reverence. Finally, I asked the students to help me put nearly 3,000 tally marks on our chalkboard. I explained to them this was a good visual to represent all the lives lost. Each mark was to represent the life, from birth to death, that each person had. How each person was a son, daughter, mother, father, uncle, aunt, grandparent, friend, helper, etc. I also told the kids about the display of flags at West Manheim and encouraged them to try to check it out this weekend. What a beautiful tribute!

Well, we've survived another HOT week here at school. We are all glad to have a few days to cool down!
We had a change of venue today, taking the liturgy to the cafeteria in lieu of the hot gym. It was a little tight, but somehow, it worked! Great job to everyone for helping out as readers, cantors, helpers, etc.
