We had a great week here in 5th grade! We were busy, but focused. The students really enjoyed writing our "Nothing Ever Happens in 5th Grade" stories for English class. Perhaps you got a peek at your student's story. They were shared with the class today and were a big hit! We also shared our book dust jackets for February's book report. They look great! But I have to say I think the class's favorite event today was Ms. Pam's carnival in the gym. I'm sure you will be filled in with so many of the fun details. I've posted some pictures of the fun on our webpage.
We updated our Book It minute tracker today and I'm proud to report that we've beat our goal again this month. Set at 16,500, we've surpassed that and achieved 23, 238! Way to go kids!
Next Wednesday is liturgy for Ash Wednesday. As noted on the updated school calendar, this is a full liturgy - no longer a prayer service. A few 5th graders will be participating to help 4th grade with this mass. We were assigned the final mass here at the elementary school - Ascension Thursday - so one more opportunity for the students to be directly involved. Re-registration papers will also be sent home on Wednesday.

Have a wonderful weekend! I told the class to say prayers for Spring to come sooner and to act the part by wearing shorts, t-shirts, and flip flops all weekend. I'm crossing my fingers! I sure hope we are in school on Monday!
