There was a lot of excitement around here on Monday after Sunday's big game. Particularly from some teachers! I convinced the class - even those who favored other teams - to smile about the game's outcome because I told them we'd celebrate by taking it easy on written homework. That got some big smiles! Congratulations to Kylie as she guessed the closet to the actual final score of the game. On Monday afternoon, we went to the computer lab to check out some online Superbowl-themed games. Then we tried out fraction practice on www.softschools.com - a great site for at home practice. On Wednesday, the kids enjoyed sharing their sports articles with the class. Go Ravens!
We also worked on projects for Black History month and will be sharing these for the class next week. We began to watch the movie "Ruby Bridges" which has great lessons about tolerance of differences and respecting all people no matter their race, religion, beliefs, traditions, etc.
We will be rescheduling our Valentine's classroom celebration to Tuesday the 12th in light of the 14th being after Lent begins. January went so fast - I can't believe it is time for Lent already! The 5th grade is planning the Ash Wednesday liturgy. Join us if you can.
Tuesday: Math - GCF and LCM/LCD Quiz
Wednesday: Religion Ch 11 Test (Or Thurs if we don't have enough time with Liturgy)
Thursday: SS - States - 1st 10 alphabetically (SPELLING COUNTS from now until the end of the year.)
Friday: Lesson 16 Test
Have a nice weekend!
