Hi Parents!
Today is the first day of the Book It Program. If your child has not already shared it with you, ask them for the purple parent letter I gave out yesterday. It outlines the plan for the 6 month program as well as our goals. I did not create a packet as referenced in the letter for several reasons. (Apologies, I didn't get to revise the text of my letter in time.) The reading calendar and reading log are orange for October and should be kept by the student for documentation of minutes and books read. The book report assignments will vary from month to month, but come mid-October, I will pass out this month's project. I've found that handing it out early leads to rushed, subpar work. Also, waiting until mid-month gives adequate time to get into their book choice and have ample time to read most of it. If you aren't sure if your child's book choice is appropriate for their ability, the best thing to do is send it to school and have him/her show it to me. Finally, in years past, I've had students that were unaware that they had to read the entire book to complete the book report fully. I've mentioned this in class, but reinforcement at home, especially if the month is soon ending, and the due date is near. October's due date for the reading calendar, log, and report is 10/29. Next week: Tuesday - Bible "Scavenger Hunt" Quiz Wednesday - Rdg: WLT #3 SS CE Due Thursday - Spelling Lesson 5 Test Eng 2.1-2.5 Quiz Friday - NO SCHOOL : P/T Conferences Have a wonderful weekend! God Bless You!
