Throughout November, we will have a food collection for those less fortunate in Hanover. In past years, our donations have been donated to God's Meal Barrel or Council of the Churches. 5th grade is in charge of this service project. To prepare, we need to amass a collection of boxes. Anytime from now until Halloween is ok to send in boxes - paper ream boxes are a great size or something similar. By the end of the month, we organize, label, and distribute these to all the classes in the school. You may bring these to your scheduled conference too if you'd like.
Thank you for sending back your conference papers. Confirmation slips went in your child's assignment books on Monday. These can be taken out and kept for your records.
Heads up: We will need soccer-ball/basketball size pumpkins for a project the last week of October. Please send these in Monday Oct 26 or Tuesday October 27. Each student will need their own. We will start the project they 27th, finish the 28th, display around school the 29th and 30th and send home the 30th. These projects turn out well, but can't stay in a warm building too long or turn mushy! Please do not send them in before Oct 26.
Each Science and Social Studies Test we have, I collect the study guide packets the day of the test. These are collected and graded as a CW grade. Each page was to be completed as independent CW, small group CW, whole class CW, or HW. We then check these pages together as a class. I collect these periodically through the chapter and then at the end for one grade and am looking for items like: work completion, if mistakes were made - corrections were made, and overall neatness as to serve as a good resource the students can study from. These packets are due the day of the test and are usually returned within a day or two. They are NOT stapled into the test packet, but DO count as a CW grade. The students had a Science test yesterday and the graded packet is coming home with them today. There was a SS test today, so the graded packet will be going home Tuesday.
Several parents have inquired about asking what we needed in the classroom. If you are able, we could always use looseleaf, construction paper, paper plates, or napkins. Thanks!!
