What we did this week:
Reading: Story - Stormalong
Spelling: Lesson 16
English: Personal Narratives editing, good copies, sharing
Math: 2 digit divisors, larger dividends, pop quiz!
Religion: Communion Rite, Parts of the Mass Test
Science: Earth Science - weathering & erosion
SS: Israel & Jerusalem, MLK Jr.
We spent a lot of time this week preparing necessities for the upcoming CSW. We also enjoyed working on several new projects in different subjects. The January Book Report project was distributed and discussed.
In honor of the MLK holiday on Monday, we "borrowed" some SS time to learn about this courageous man and his life. We watched a video about some students who decided to save MLK from assassination by bringing him to the future. There was a valuable point made about what our country might look like and be like today without the changes he encouraged so many to make. Each year, I'm very excited to share these lessons with the class and hear their reactions to the story. They are so heart-warming as these kids just don't know a world where such hatred and violence between the races is so commonplace. That is a wonderful thing that these kids fail to see a difference in skin color, religion, or language as such a negative. We worked on a small project which some are still finishing and should return to school on Tuesday.
Monday: NO SCHOOL
Tuesday: MLK tombstones due (if not completed on Fri. 1/16)
Wednesday: CE Due
Thursday: Sci. Ch 6 Less 1-2 Quiz
Friday: Spelling Less 17
Rel. Ch 11 "Graded Classwork"
