What we did this week:
Reading: Story - Inventing the Future
English: Possessive Pronouns & Writing/Editing with Pronouns
Math: Fractions -> Decimals -> Percents
Religion: God Calls All of Us to Holiness: Vocations - Single Life & Religious Life
Science: Earth Science - Climate zones, atmosphere, seasons
SS: Development of Rome, Early Romans
Grade Portal: Note that for the Book Report grades from 3/31, all have been converted to percentages (out of 100%) due to the fact that students were able to select which type of report they wanted to complete. There were several rubrics/grading sheets for these projects so changing them to percents was to save me from imputing them individually.
Despite uncooperative weather, the Race for Education was a great success today! We headed to the MS a little earlier than I expected, but had time to eat our AM snacks, use the restroom, and stretch. We moved into the gym to cheer on our friends in 3rd and 4th and then we were up! Great efforts were evidenced by puffy red faces when the last minute buzzed by! We had some time to cool down and then zipped back to the ES just in time for lunch.
By 1:30 we headed to Art, but I was surprised when a messenger student came back to the classroom to get me and said Mrs. Fagnani needed me! I walked (read: waddled) into a wonderful blue baby shower in the cafeteria! I love the decorations, balloons, cake, and favors! It was such a sweet gesture from everyone parents and students who helped organize. The gift cards to Target and Babies R Us will certainly be coming in handy as Mr. Maurer, Avalyn, and I pick up some last minute baby boy needs! The students also had me in tears as I opened a scrapbook with messages they wrote to Baby Maurer. Their messages were so sweet and I'll be sure to read these to him in May and over the summer. He got so excited about the tasty cake that after school, I returned to the classroom and he got the hiccups! I can't wait until he is here and I can introduce the class. Thank you so much!!!! Only one month to go - unless he can't wait and comes earlier! Please pray for me that labor won't begin at school if he does want to come early.
