Hi Parents!
What a week in 5th grade! We've been rolling right along with our studies as we've been working our way through Nouns in English, onto our 2nd story in Reading, different types of worship in Religion, place value from hundred millions to thousandths in Math, matter, weight, and volume in Science, and Mesopotamia in Social Studies. We also spent this morning with a lesson on 9/11. I told the students about the awesome display of flags and their symbolism at West Manheim and encouraged them to make a visit or at least ask you to drive them by it. We also read a book together called He Said Yes. The story of the life of Father Mychal Judge and his acts on 9/11. Please ask your child to tell you about him. I'm so excited to announce that on Monday we have 2 more desks ready to go in the classroom. Jordyn is rejoining as an in-person learner and we have a new student - Gabrielle! The class was so excited they cheered when I told them the news! We are getting better with distancing guidelines and mask usage has been great. We know they droop at times, but one reminder can usually fix it. Hand sanitizing is at an all time high! We've used mask breaks to enjoy walks around the school building. Pray for lots of good weather so we can get out as much as possible! School picture day is coming up - plan those outfits now! We will have pictures on September 25. Also, if you ordered a yearbook from SJS last year, I heard good news - Lifetouch just shipped them! COVID has caused so many delays. I hope they will be here soon and we can revisit some of our happy memories from the last school year. Something else that arrived today were some more of our textbooks! Students now have their math and science consumable books. Yay - no more copies! We are only waiting for one more book - our Reader's Notebook. Have a great weekend! God Bless You!
