Students have be much better this week wearing coats out to recess. Thank you for helping to remind them. Another reminder has been coming to us by way of the morning announcements - if the boys uniform pants have belt loops, the uniform requires them to wear a belt.
RVSP fliers for the Catholic Schools Week lunch were sent out this week. Please return these next week. Mrs. Sheridan works very hard to organize the tables by grade and family for this event and the sooner we can get her those papers, the sooner she can get started. It is essentially like creating a seating chart for a wedding and there is a lot of planning and work involved. We have also begun CSW preparations in the classroom! We will soon be busy making cards and helping plan activities for the special week. I believe the tri-fold brochures will be coming home next week to you.
We've kicked 5th grade into high gear this week as we are in project-mode. Students have directions - and I've been told some have already started - for book report projects for January. Students also have an optional Science project that is to be completed at home. In class, we are working on a state brochure project. In Religion, we are now more than halfway through the parts of the mass and students have correlating study cards and a study guide as well. In Science, we've gotten into Earth Science and are starting with landforms and the Earth's surface. In Social Studies, we are learning about causes of the Revolutionary War: reasons the colonists were upset with Britain. Also, there is one remaining states test before alphabetical order and spelling begin to count. Busy, busy!
This week, I planned for us to have a SS Quiz today. This was "downgraded" to a graded CW assignment and the students were allowed to use their textbooks and study guide packets. These will be in next week's test packet, but as a CW assignment, it is weighted less than a quiz grade.
Tuesday: English - Verb Test Unit 3
