Holy moly! Where has this school year gone? I can't believe we are in the final days of this school year! We had a few more activities this week including Water Fun Day, Ascension Thursday Liturgy, and Muffins with Mom! The kids LOVED the water fun day they earned from exceeding the school goal fundraising for the American Heart Association during Catholic Schools Week. The 5th grade proudly served as the choir for mass and lead our school singing so beautifully, they have been asked to sing for the 8th grade graduation! (If your child is a cantor, please check their take-home folder for information on this.)
We are coming down to the last few due dates these next 2 weeks. By the last week of April (when the final book report was due), students had come to ask me if we would have/could have a book report for May. Since there seemed to be so much interest, I handed out directions for a project that I would count as an Extra Credit project on April 25th. This project was due yesterday, May 11. I was looking to see who would take initiative to do the project on their own as I did not advertise this to parents. These EC points will be applied in the ILA grade. If your child chose not to participate, they are marked "exempt" from this grade.
There may be 1-2 other "extra credit" offers in Science and SS next week, but please understand I will only advertise these to the class as to see who could take initiative to work on them if grades could use a boost. Perhaps you could encourage your child to listen for these opportunities if they may be in need.
