What we did this week:
Reading: Story - Sailing Home: A Childhood at Sea
Focus Skill: Compare and Contrast
Spelling: Lesson 12
English: Main, helping, and linking verbs
Religion: Liturgy of the Word
Science: Life Science - Heredity, DNA, chromosomes
SS: European climate zones, test review
We collected, boxed, and gathered all the donations for our Thanksgiving Food Drive this week. Our class worked together to collect a whopping 89 cans of green beans and 27 FULL boxes from the Elementary school. (I'm not sure how many the MS filled.) See the website for a photo. It is awesome to think about how many people all that food will be able to help feed this holiday season! Big heartfelt thanks for all your kindness and generosity!
It has come to my attention that some of our classmates have not been treating each other with the kindness and respect that we all deserve. I spoke to the class about it this afternoon and several students individually. It would be my hope that in a small class, we could find ways to all be friends, but in the meantime, please help me remind the kids that even if you aren't fond of someone else on any given day, they still have dignity and do not deserve unkind words, name-calling, or especially hands-on hurtfulness. Students should come to myself or the teacher on duty to report any problems that cannot be resolved amongst themselves and I will handle the issue that day. I will not allow for this behavior in our class. We can be and will be better than that.
