We had a few more visitors this week in the classroom. Father Ryan came in Wednesday and had prepared a combo lesson of Science, Social Studies, and of course Religion. The kids enjoyed his lesson about how God's love is ever-present in so many ways. Talk about cross-curricular studies! We also had a special visit from Mrs. Livia Riley and Mrs. Margaret Barrett - the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of the Diocese of Harrisburg schools! They enjoyed greeting the students, seeing the classroom, and hearing/seeing what we've been studying.
We had time this week in the computer lab to do research for our Saint Reports. I'm glad to see and hear that so many students told me they took initiative to begin to prepare their research at home last weekend. Many students are about ready to start their good copies. These may be typed or handwritten neatly on looseleaf paper. Students have a rubric with directions on how to prepare this report.
Current Event assignments were looking great this week! We've had quite a variety of article topics ranging from hurricane cleanup, Our Lady of Fatima, monarch butterflies, Halloween candy, dogs helping kids swim, and the CA wildfires.
We also had our 1st Book It minute check today. We are up to 6,125 minutes with a class goal of 12,750 to hopefully achieve by the end of the month. Keep up the good work!
