On Wednesday, we had quite a busy day. We spent almost an hour talking about the importance of 9/11 and why we should "Never Forget." Most of our class was still growing in their mom's bellies and therefore have no memories of this tragic day. I showed a time-lapsed video of the new World Trade Center building to demonstrate how far we have come as a county and how we are working together to recover and live on with American pride. I also asked the students to work on a small poster that we titled "I Will Remember Because..." so they can have something to think back on. We also spent time in prayer for the nearly 3,000 that lost their lives and their grieving families. Our class worked together and we prayed a total of 3,273 prayers for the victims between Wednesday and Friday!
By 10:00 Wednesday, it was time for our live welcome back to school from Father Quinlan - the Secretary for Education from the Diocese. We linked into a live feed where he shared a thoughtful and prayerful message. Then, as a school family and diocesan family, we prayed the Rosary. What a beautiful form of student unity. Father Quinlan asked that we remember Bishop McFadden, the 9/11 victims and their families, and a senior student from Trinity High School that passed away on Tuesday.
We were thankful for the cooling weather today as the rest of the week was quite steamy!
Remember, next Friday are our school pictures. If you'd like to send in the photo order form early, I can hang onto it for your student. Or, they can just bring it to school next Friday.
**** There is a flier coming home today about choosing your preference of time for parent conferences on Friday, October 4. Please excuse the typo near the beginning that says "November." Please complete this and return it to school by next Friday so I can plan a schedule and send a confirmation home with your student. *****
