Well, there are only two things left this year! Our field trip is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21st. Please remember to have your child wear a St. Joseph t--shirt (or a green shirt) and sneakers that day. Also, remember to send in a bagged lunch to take along and discard after lunch. We have 10 parent helpers signed up to chaperone along with myself, Mrs. Biggins, and Mrs. McCusker. Each adult will be responsible for 3 or 4 children. We are all really looking forward to the trip! Please remember to have your child at school no later than 8:15 am!! The bus leaves at 8:30am. We will arrive back at school between 2 and 2:30pm.
Our last day of school is next Thursday (May 23rd). We will dismiss at 11:30 that morning, so please arrange transportation for your child if he/she is a bus rider. The children will need to come back to school that evening by 6:00pm and come to the classroom. All other family members will go to the gym. Remember to have your child dress in nice "church-like" clothing. We have over 150 people signed up to attend! Please, also remember to bring in your snack that I assigned to you that morning when your child comes to school, that way Mrs. McCusker and I can get everything set up that afternoon! The show usually lasts about an hour with refreshments afterwards. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
I will most likely update this webpage one more time at the end of next week, putting any last minute thoughts and well wishes down and possibly a few pictures from our show. It%2
Here 's what we did this week:
Language Arts: This week we learned 3 combinations ,"ar", "er", and "or". This will be the last week for learning any new skills. Next week we will just finish up any loose ends and review. We are reading one last decodable reader, "Three rich sheep". I will send that home next week.
Math: We are briefly skimming over chapter 12 this week on numbers to 100. By the end of kindergarten all the students should be able to rote count all the way to 100. However, writing those numbers is a little more difficult. Remember to keep practicing numbers over the summer as well.
Religion: This week we talked about ways to be kind and giving to others. We made get well cards for the residents at Hanover Hall nursing home and Mrs. McCusker delivered them yesterday with a note telling them that the kindergarten students at St. Joseph are learning about how to bring joy to others. I think they will be well received!!
Science/Social Studies: We finished up our unit on animals this week by talking about insects. The children learned many ways to classify mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and now insects. It was a fun unit.
Fun Friday: We took a class vote on what to do this week for our last "fun Friday". It was a close vote between a game of kickball, dodgeball, or a dance party. Kickball won! We are going to make it a little more interesting though by challenging the 1st grade to play against us. Bring it on 1st grade...we are ready for you!!
