What we are working on:
Phonics: This month we learned the letters "P, A, & N" We now know two vowels and six consonants, which means we can make and read many new CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words. It is an exciting time in kindergarten when the children start turning into emergent readers!!
Reading: We continue to read stories that include our learned sight words and our decodable words. We are also doing small reading groups as well.
Grammar: We learned about adjectives this month. We know that adjectives are describing words. We can describe nouns by how they sound, look, taste, smell, and feel.
Math: We continued to work on the numbers 1-10 this month. We can count, write, and compare these numbers.
Religion: This month we talked about the Holy Family and how we become part of God's family when we receive the sacrament of baptism. We also learned that God made each one of us unique. He gave us special gifts and talents. We talked about how to use these gifts to help others.
Science & Social Studies: We had an exciting visit from the Hanover Fire Department this month. They put on a great show, let us see the fire trucks, and taught us all about fire safety. We also talked about the season of fall, carved a pumpkin, and of course, celebrated Halloween.
