Registration for 2016-2017 School Year

Thank you for your interest in our Preschool Program!  We are currently enrolling for our Three and Four Year Old Classes.  To enroll your child, we need the following information:

Preschool Information Pamphlet
Preschool Registration Form
Health History
Birth Certificate
Social Security Card
Immunization Records
Baptismal Certificate
$50 registration fee -- print coupon for $25 off the registration fee for new families

Our next registration date is January 21, 2016 from 1-2 PM.  If you can not attend this time, please contact Miss Jessica at jscott@sjshanover.org to schedule registration.

We are limited in the number of children we can enroll.  Registrations will be taken on a first come; first served basis.

Terrific Threes

Look what we learned:
· In religion, we completed our Easter unit.  In Preschool, we focus on Easter being a 
​  celebration of new life and how much God loves us.
· We completed our diamond unit by working in our Smart Books.
· We also practiced tracing vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines. 


Important Dates:
· Easter vacation is March 24—28th.
 
Reminders:
· Please call into the school office if your child will be absent.
· Snack fees for the second half of the year are now due.
· We do not generally have end of the year conferences.  However, if you need to meet with us,
   please let us know.  As per school policy, we need to schedule an appointment.
 
Fun at Home:
· Look for signs of new life.
 
Thank you to everyone who sent in goodies to fill our Easter eggs!  We had a great time!

We are trying to encourage more  independence in our students.  This is the time of year, we ask you to begin dropping your child off at the door and allowing them to come to the classroom on their own.  We will have helpers  available to help the children.

Terrific Threes

Look what we learned:
  • In religion, we completed the unit “We Can Laugh.”  We also started our Easter unit.
  • We started learning about diamonds.  We learned new songs about diamonds, including “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” from Mary Poppins. 
  • We also practiced tracing vertical and horizontal lines. 
  • We read Ten Lucky Leprechaun Friends and I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover.
 
Important Dates:
  • Our Easter celebration and egg hunt will be March 22nd.
  • Easter vacation is March 24—28th.

  • Snack fees for the second half of the year are now due.

  • We introduced the letter S and its sound.  We learned the Letter S Song, how to make a in American Sign Language and played “Roll, Say, Color,” and several other games.
  • We have been continually reviewing the numbers 1-8 and practicing counting to 20.
  • We read I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover, Ten Lucky Leprechauns and Jelly Bean and the Unbreakable Egg.
  • We also celebrated St. Patrick's Day.  The children did a great job decorating "hats" for Lucky the Leprechaun and were very excited to find their shrunken hats and treats!

  • Easter vacation is March 24—28th.

Terrific Threes


Look what we learned:
  • In religion, we learned that we can laugh.  God loves us very much and wants us to be happy.  We show we are happy when we laugh!
  • We completed the rectangle unit this week.  We learned new songs and played   several fun games.
  • We also started tracing vertical line.  The children are doing a great job with   tracing vertical and horizontal lines!
  • We read A Great Day for Up! and Please, Mr. Panda.  I love Please, Mr. Panda as it   reminds the children the importance of good manners!

Important Dates:
· St. Patrick’s Day celebration will be March 17th.
· Easter vacation is March 24—28th.
 
Reminders:
  • We are looking for donations to fill our eggs for our Easter Egg Hunt.  This can be small candy, stickers or other items.  We have plenty of eggs and only need stuff to fill them with.  Thank you! 
  • Snack fee for the second half of the year is now due. 
  • Please remember to call the school office if your child will be absent.

Fun at Home:
  • Play “Go Fly a Kite” on the back of the newsletter.
  • Look for rectangles in your home or when you are away.
  • Say two words to your child and ask if they rhyme.  We have mostly been working on words that rhyme with cat and star.
  • Using a highlighter, draw horizontal and vertical lines on a piece of paper.  Give your child a pencil to trace over the line.

  • In religion, we completed our unit “God Made Light” by making beautiful candles.
  • We introduced the letter R and its sound.  We learned the Letter R Song, how to make a R in American Sign Language and played “Roll, Say, Color,” and several other games.
  • We continued to practice the Touch Points for the number 8 and reviewed the other numbers 1-7.
  • We began several activities and crafts for St. Patrick’s Day.  We made leprechauns and started our pot of gold projects.
  • All of the children are doing a great job coming to the classroom independently!  I am so proud of them!

Important Dates:
  • St. Patrick’s Day celebration will be March 16th.
  • Easter vacation is March 24—28th.

Reminders:

  • Play “Go Fly a Kite”  game on the back for fun skill review.  You can use any type of flash card.  I suggest alphabet and numbers.
  • Practice writing your name with a capital letter at the beginning and the rest of the letters lowercase.  I know this is a new challenge, but I’m sure with a little practice they will master this Kindergarten readiness skill!

Terrific Threes

Look what we learned:
· In religion, we learned that we can sing.  We can pray sing to praise God and we can sing just
  to have fun!
· We introduced the rectangle this week.  We learned new songs and played several fun games.
· We also started tracing vertical line.  The children are doing a great job with tracing so far!
· Dr. Seuss’ birthday was March 2nd!  We had a great time celebrating his birthday!  Each of
​  the children picked a Dr. Seuss themed background for a picture.  We read One Fish, Two
  Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and The Foot Book this week.  We have been practicing rhyming
​  words.

Reminders:

· Snack fee for the second half of the year is now due. 
· Please remember to call the school office if your child will be absent.

Fun at Home:
· Look for rectangles in your home or when you are away.

  American Sign Language and played “Roll, Say, Color,” and several other games.
· We practiced the Touch Points for the number 8 and reviewed the other numbers 1-7.
· Dr. Seuss’ birthday was March 2nd.  The children had wonderful costumes!  Thank you for
​  helping us to have a fun celebration!
· Most of the children are doing a great job coming to the classroom independently!  I am so
  proud of them!

· Please call into the school office if your child will be absent.
· Snack fees for the second half of the year are now due.
· In order to help the children gain independence and get ready for Kindergarten, I ask
​  that you begin dropping your child off at the door in the morning and allowing them to come
​  up the stairs by themselves.

Fun at Home:
Practice writing your name with a capital letter at the beginning and the rest of the letters lowercase.  I know this is a new challenge, but the children have been tracing their names this way all year long.  I’m sure with a little practice they will master this Kindergarten readiness skill!

The children will each have many opportunities to practice in class.  When a child can show  this skill, his/her name will go on our Super Kid Wall!

    ​My name is Jessica Scott. This is my 14th year teaching and my 12th year at St. Joseph School.  I am excited to begin my 6th year in preschool.  In preschool, we play, learn and grow together.  I am thrilled to share this preschool experience with your child!
