Important Dates: · Easter vacation is March 24—28th. Reminders: · Please call into the school office if your child will be absent. · Snack fees for the second half of the year are now due. · We do not generally have end of the year conferences. However, if you need to meet with us, please let us know. As per school policy, we need to schedule an appointment. Fun at Home: · Look for signs of new life. Thank you to everyone who sent in goodies to fill our Easter eggs! We had a great time! We are trying to encourage more independence in our students. This is the time of year, we ask you to begin dropping your child off at the door and allowing them to come to the classroom on their own. We will have helpers available to help the children. Terrific ThreesLook what we learned: · In religion, we learned that we can sing. We can pray sing to praise God and we can sing just to have fun! · We introduced the rectangle this week. We learned new songs and played several fun games. · We also started tracing vertical line. The children are doing a great job with tracing so far! · Dr. Seuss’ birthday was March 2nd! We had a great time celebrating his birthday! Each of the children picked a Dr. Seuss themed background for a picture. We read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and The Foot Book this week. We have been practicing rhyming words. Reminders: · Snack fee for the second half of the year is now due. · Please remember to call the school office if your child will be absent. Fun at Home: · Look for rectangles in your home or when you are away. · Say two words to your child and ask if they rhyme. We have mostly been working on words that rhyme with cat and star. · Using a highlighter, draw horizontal and vertical lines on a piece of paper. Give your child a pencil to trace over the line. Fantastic FoursLook what we learned: · In religion, we learned that God made light. God loves us so much that He created light so we can see the beautiful things in our world. We also read the Bible story about how Jesus healed the blind man. · We introduced the letter Q and its sound. We learned the Letter P Song, how to make a Q in American Sign Language and played “Roll, Say, Color,” and several other games. · We practiced the Touch Points for the number 8 and reviewed the other numbers 1-7. · Dr. Seuss’ birthday was March 2nd. The children had wonderful costumes! Thank you for helping us to have a fun celebration! · Most of the children are doing a great job coming to the classroom independently! I am so proud of them! Reminders: · Please call into the school office if your child will be absent. · Snack fees for the second half of the year are now due. · In order to help the children gain independence and get ready for Kindergarten, I ask that you begin dropping your child off at the door in the morning and allowing them to come up the stairs by themselves. Fun at Home: Practice writing your name with a capital letter at the beginning and the rest of the letters lowercase. I know this is a new challenge, but the children have been tracing their names this way all year long. I’m sure with a little practice they will master this Kindergarten readiness skill! The children will each have many opportunities to practice in class. When a child can show this skill, his/her name will go on our Super Kid Wall! |
