Terrific ThreesThis was a fun week! In religion, we learned that we can play. We had fun playing many games and learning that we can praise God by playing nicely and sharing with others. We have also been filling in our Lenten Good Deeds chart. Our class one is coming along nicely! I hope your child's chart at home looks colorful too! We completed our kite craft on Tuesday and began learning about the triangle. We watched a few Sesame Street clips about triangles, learned the triangle song and played a some shape games. We are continuing to practice rhyming skills and name recognition skills. These are tough skills, but the children are doing well! I've uploaded a few pictures at the bottom of the page. There are some really cute ones of the children watching Momma and Papa Eagle feed the babies! You can follow hem from home at https://hdontap.com/index.php/video/stream/bald-eagle-live-cam. Fantastic FoursThis was a fun week! In religion, we learned that God made birds. God gives the birds everything they need, but we learned that God loves us more than birds. We also made bird feeders. We've been following the Hanover Bald Eagles on https://hdontap.com/index.php/video/stream/bald-eagle-live-cam. We completed our letter S activities and introduced the letter T. We practiced songs, played "Roll, Say, Color," amd worked in our Smart Books. We also practiced following directions, counting and rhyming skills. The children are doing a nice job of learning to recognize their last names! We will be reviewing this skill during the remainder of the year. Graduation is only a few weeks away! We've been learning songs for our Graduation Celebrations, so you may hear your child singing at home. REMINDERS:

This week went fast! We had some catching up to do from our snow days last week, but the children are doing a great job! I was looking ahead at our calendar and we only have about 7 weeks before we dismiss for summer! Wow! We've been having a special 2nd Grader read a Bible story to us each day. This is a great way to begin our morning after our prayer! Thank you, Mrs. Hagarman and 2nd grade for sharing your reading talents and time with us! Terrific ThreesThis week, the Terrific Threes learned that we can move. God loves us very much and created us to be able to move our bodies. We can also use movement and dance to praise God. We had fun with our prayer dancing! The Terrific Threes also learned about the shape of a diamond or rhombus. We had songs and games to help us recognise this shape. We have one more activity to finish up next week before moving on to a new shape. We have also started introducing rhyming games. They are doing great with this new skill. This one does take time to master, so we all need to be patient and practice! Reading rhyming stories at home is a great way to help! Some of our friends started learning to trace their names this week. Please continue to practice name recognition at home. This will be very important skill to start next year in the Fantastic Fours. I posted some pictures below (under the Fantastic Fours updates). REMINDERS:
Fantastic FoursThis week we learned that God made animals. God made all animals big and small, but none are as special as us! Over the next few weeks, we will be learning in more detail some of the animals God created. The snow days have messed with our usual routine of learning a letter a week. Until we catch back up, we may be completing a letter at the beginning of the week and introducing a new one at the end. We completed our letter R activities and began the letter S. The children really enjoyed "The S Song!" I posted the YouTube link below. We have also been reviewing the numbers 1-6 and rhyming words. The children have been practicing writing their first names. Next week, we will begin learning to recognize last names. For preschool, the children do not have to be able to write their last names, just identify them. REMINDERS:
Terrific ThreesThe children have been doing a great job taking care of their new plants! They are starting to see sprouts already! In religion this week, we learned that we can celebrate! Every day, we celebrate God's love for us. We also completed our square activities. We sorted square stickers by size, counted square stickers, traced lines from top to bottom and from left to right. We reviewed colors and shapes by playing "Snail Mail" and "Shoo Fly." We have also begun playing rhyming games. Rhyming is extremely important as a beginning reading skill. KIDS VS. TEACHERS We've had a few questions regarding Kids vs. Teacher. This is a game we began playing to review skills. To earn a point, the children raise their hands and wait to be called on to give the correct answer. If they blurt out an answer, the Teachers get a point. The children seemed to really enjoy this game and tried really hard to raise their hands! The teachers thought we would try to see how they responded if we played the game all class. At the end of the class, we give a cheer for the winners. We noticed that the children did not try as hard to raise their hands when we played for the whole class, and have decided to keep this game for a skill review. That being said, we also noticed that some of the children were very upset if the Teachers won. Learning to be a good sport and congratulate the winner is an important social skill that we will continue to practice. REMINDERS:
Fantastic FoursIn religion this week, we learned that God made flowers. We planted our own flowers on Monday. It will be the children's responsibility to water them at the beginning of each class. We should see seeds beginning to sprout soon! We also completed our letter Qq activities. We learned to identify the beginning sound and the written letter. We practiced writing the letter Qq and searched for it in our names. We are also continuing to play rhyming games. Rhyming is extremely important as a beginning reading skill. KIDS VS. Terrific ThreesWhat a week! We had so much fun reading Dr. Seuss' silly stories, making crafts, taking funny pictures and practicing our rhyming skills! In religion, we learned that Lent is the time we get ready for Easter. Fr. Ryan visited and told us that sometimes people give up a favorite food for Lent. They do this because they love Jesus more than that food. We also learned that we can prepare for Lent by being kind to others. Each child received a Lenten Good Deeds chart and I encouraged them to color in a space each time they show kindness and love to another person. We are working together to fill on in during class time too! Easter is a time to celebrate new life. We learned about what plants need to grow and planted our own seeds. We will send these home in a few weeks. We introduced the square shape this week. We will complete more activities with this shape next week. Lastly, we completed our Dental Health theme. We learned that it is important to brish, floss and rinse every day. The children were all given a new toothbrush from the Colgate Tooth Defenders program. REMINDERS:
