It's been so nice to get through the past several weeks without any snow delays or cancellations! We're really moving through our curriculum now! There are many exiting things happening in PreK right now. We've planted our seeds and were surprised to see sprouts popping up already! Also, our caterpillars have arrived. We will watch them grow and change into beautiful Painted Lady butterflies before we release them.
In religion, we have been learning about prayer and the many ways that we can show our love for God. The Fantastic Fours have had the opportunity to visit our church, too. We've been discussing how we can prepare our hearts for Easter during this season of Lent. We have also been talking with the children to reinforce that Easter is more than the Easter Bunny coming; it's about celebrating the new life Jesus gives us on Easter Sunday. In PreK, our focus is more on Jesus' rising than His death.
The Terrific Threes have been working on shapes, reviewing colors, and introducing letters and numbers. We've been working mostly with the letters in our names, but will be adding others. They are doing really well with the Touch Points on numbers and using them to count and identify the numerals.
The Fantastic Fours are continuing to learn about the alphabet and letter sounds, as well as number identification. We've also been working on rhyming skills. Most of the children are beginning to grasp this concept. We've been putting a lot of focus into name writing. We are encouraging the children to write their names correctly with the first letter being capitalized and the following letters being lower case. Please help us by reinforcing this at home.
