Terrific ThreesHopefully, everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving and a little extra time to relax and enjoy your families! This week, we began learning about Advent. The first Sunday of Advent is this week, December 3. Throughout the season of Advent, we will focus on preparing our hearts for Jesus' birth. In Preschool, this means that we encourage "green choices," prayer and showing love to others. One way we do this is with a Kindness Calendar. The Kindness Calendar was sent home this week and each day has something that your child can do to show love to others. Of course, we will also be singing Christmas Carols, making crafts, and searching for our mischievous visitor, Jingles the Elf. We completed our activities for the color purple this week. We also introduced the color brown. The children have been doing a great job tracing and writing tall and side lines, so we added mountains to our pre-writing practice! REMINDERS:
Fantastic FoursHopefully, everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving and a little extra time to relax and enjoy your families! Before we left, we baked bread in a crock-pot and made our own butter. What a yummy snack! I added a few pictures below. This week, we began learning about Advent. The first Sunday of Advent is this week, December 3. Terrific ThreesWe had so much fun learning and discovering together this week! We finally got around to exploring our pumpkins! The children all helped to remove the insides. They were able to feel the slimy texture and experience what a freshly carved pumpkin smells like. We discussed how we can use pumpkins for food and how they grow. The ones we carved actually came from my garden. This week, we learned that we can share. God loves us all and asks us to be kind and loving towards others. This means that we need to share. The children were quick to point out that sharing is a green choice! We also learned that we can smile. Smiling shows others that we are happy. We can share our smiles with others. We introduced the color purple this week. The children are doing great recognizing their colors and shapes! We have a short review game that we play each morning on our interactive board. Since they are doing so well, I have decided to begin introducing a few letters. We are starting with the first letters of their names. As we introduce the letters, we are also learning the beginning strokes to write the letters. REMINDERS:

They were able to feel the slimy texture and experience what a freshly carved pumpkin smells like. We discussed how we can use pumpkins for food and how they grow. The ones we carved actually came from my garden. In Religion, we learned that God made music. We can use music to praise God. Many times we hear music in Church. We also learned that God made water. Water is important in our lives for many reasons. We need it to drink, clean, bathe, and cook. We also use water when we pray. Priests bless water that we can use to pray. We call this Holy Water. We began learning about the letters Gg & Hh. The children had a great time making Gooey Green Goop! We also worked in our Smart Books, searched in our names for Gg and Hh, and played "Roll, Say, Color." The children completed their name turkeys this week and they look adorable in the hall! We also played Fuzz Bugs on www.abcya.com. The children are doing a great job learning to sort, count and categorize. This seems to be a favorite game after snack! Our Special Classes were fun filled this week, too! In Music, we learned Thanksgiving songs. In Physical Education, we practiced balance, played Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Tag and Freeze Tag. In Technology, Group 2 played Thanksgiving Day games. REMINDERS:
