FANTASTIC FOURS

• Religion – We learned that saints are special friends of Jesus, who now live in Heaven.  We also learned that God made the Bible and God made music.
• Literacy – We worked on the letters F, G and H.  We’ve been working on fine motor skills to improve our coloring and writing.  We began directed drawing painting for Thanksgiving.
• Math – We practiced counting to 20 and completing patterns.  We practiced identifying number to 10 by playing “Witches Brew.”  We are also learning positional words.
• Science – We are learning about autumn and leaves.  We took a nature walk and collected items that reminds us of autumn. 
• Social Studies – We are discussing Thanksgiving and what we are thankful for.  We are also learning about farms.

 
TERRIFIC THREES

• Religion – We learned that we can help and care.
• Literacy – We’ve been working on our fine motor skills to get ready to write.  We made sticker collages and beaded bracelets for the colors blue and purple.  We drew pumpkin patches in our smartbooks.
• Math – We studied the colors blue and purple. 
• Science – We’ve been investigating autumn and leaves. 
• Social Studies – We are learning about farms.  We have also been discussing why we celebrate Thanksgiving and what we are thankful for.

 
THANKSGIVING CELEBRATIONS
We will have Thanksgiving celebrations on November 22 and 23.  Please use the Sign-Up Genius link that was emailed if you would like to donate an item.  We have 22 in our Fantastic Fours class and 18 in our Terrific Threes class.  We will not be handing our treats to classmates for this holiday.  The children in Terrific Threes will not need a morning snack on Nov. 23.  The children in Fantastic Fours will need a snack on Nov. 22 because our party will be in the afternoon.

IMPORTANT DATES

• Nov. 14 – 20 – Discover Catholic Schools Week
• Nov. 23 – Early dismissal at 11:45. If you have a child in Terrific Threes and older sibling at St. Joseph school, you can send a note to their homeroom teachers to request that they be dismissed with their preschool sibling.
• Nov. 24 – Nov. 29 – No School (Thanksgiving Vacation)
• Dec. 8 & 9 – Secret Santa (More information will be sent home soon.)

 
REMINDERS

• We will be going outside as long as there isn’t inclement weather.  Please make sure your child is dressed to go outside even in colder weather. 
  •  His/her name should be inside of jackets, hats, gloves, etc.
  •  It is also very helpful if you work with your child to learn how to pull the sleeves out and practice putting on, taking off and zipping their jackets.
• Please have hair tied back for girls in the Fantastic Fours on Wednesdays for Physical Education class.
• If you haven’t already done so, please join ClassDojo!  I post more specific updates and pictures there. 
• Students need to wear sneakers or tennis shoes.
• Please send a morning snack and water bottle with your child.  Your child needs a snack even if he/she is buying lunch. 
• On Ice Cream Fridays, please send money in an envelope with your child’s name and “Ice Cream” on the front.  Please put the envelope (and anything else you would like me to see) in your child’s folder.
