Terrific ThreesWe had another great week celebrating Dr. Seuss! On Tuesday, we read Green Eggs and Ham and made our own green eggs craft. Then on Thursday, we celebrated The Cat in the Hat, had a silly picture taken and colored a Thing. I am planning to order copies of the pictures and will send them home soon. In religion, we learned that we can celebrate. We celebrate birthdays, and happy events. We show that we love God when we celebrate the wonderful things He gives us. I am so proud of all the kind acts that are being returned on your eggs! Hug your hearts! We started learning about diamonds and sizes. We sorted diamonds pictures into two sets, big and little. We also had a few special visitors on Thursday. Students from the second grade class came to read to us. What fun! On Monday, we read The Cat in the Hat and created new hats for Cat to wear. The children came in with some wacky hats on Wednesday and read we read The 500 Hats of Bartholemew Cubbins. We also finished our Cat projects. On Friday, we had our big celebration for Dr. Seuss birthday. Everyone looked great dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss characters. I have pictures below, and will order copes to send home soon. We studied a Scholastic Let's Find Out magazine to learn about Dr. Seuss and watched a video clip from Horton Hears a Who. In religion, we are learning that God made flowers. How wonderful is God that he created flowers to give our world color and nice scents! This week, we learned all about the letter O. We found 9 in our names, learned the O song, practiced identifying words that start like octopus with a fun sticker project, and learned how to write it. We also "met" St. Odelia. The children are doing great learning the sounds letters make and writing them on white boards and paper. Kiss your brains!
