First of all, thank you for all of your prayers over the past weeks! I am very happy to be back with the children!
We have been very busy this week preparing our hearts for Jesus' birth. Each day, we review the activity on our Kindness Calendar. I encourage the children to practice the act of kindness throughout our school day and to continue being kind at home. We've also decorated our Christmas tree and added many festive decorations to the classroom. Miss Anita did a great job with this! We have also been practicing for our Christmas program. I sent home a paper this week with information about our Christmas activities.
Jingles, our Scout Elf, has returned from the North Pole. Santa left a letter explaining that sometimes Jingles can be naughty. Santa hopes that Jingles can learn more about God's love and forgiveness by watching our class make green choices.
The Terrific Threes and Fantastic Fours have been learning about Advent in our Religion unit. Each class was given an Advent calendar to keep at home.
The Terrific Threes have been working on the color brown. We made adorable gingerbread pals with glitter glue and put brown stickers in our Smartbooks We practiced measuring skills by sorting shapes by size to make Christmas trees.
The Fantastic Fours worked on the letter K this week. We completed our Smartbook activities including Rainbow Writing, building Kk with stickers, identifying the Kk and sorting pictures that begin with /k/. We introduced new center time activities after snack. These activities included iPads, Letter Stew and practicing writing skills on our dry erase boards.
I am hoping to do a few other Christmas activities that involve wrapping paper. As you are wrapping gifts, I would appreciate it if you would donate some scraps that the children can practice fine motor skills with. Thanks!
