We had a great time this week playing and learning together! We completed our Religion unit "I Can Taste" and our unit on the color blue. We sorted blue stickers by shape in our Smart Books, made blue bracelets and practiced cutting blue strips of paper. We will continue to practice our cutting skills at school. You may want to consider purchasing a pair of safety scissors and practicing at home as well.
We are also emphasizing politeness and asking for help. Our children need to learn to be problem solvers. One way we help them develop this skill is by encouraging them to ask for help instead of stating their problem. Many children will tell us they have sticky fingers, but what we need them to learn is to say, "May I have a wipe, please?" The children also tend to tell us what they want without adding "please" or saying "thank you" once they've been helped. Please try to encourage these magic words at home!
The children love singing! We have been spending some time each day learning our Halloween songs and finger plays. I will include YouTube links below, so your child can sing at home, too.
We had another great week learning and playing together! In religion, we worked on our unit "God Made Our Church Family." This unit can be a little confusing for our young learners, but they did a great job! We learned that we are all in God's Church family and that we should all love each other. We also learned that Mary is the mother of our Church family and Jesus wants us to love her like He does.
We also completed our letter C activities and introduced the letter D. We looked for the letter Dd in our names, practiced Rainbow Writing in our Smart Books, and played Roll, Say, Color.
We practiced sorting, counting and comparing with the Fuzz Bugs on www.abcya.com. We also introduced the number 2. We painted a 2 with two colors of paint and were amazed to see what happens when two colors mix!
This class loves to sing and really enjoys our Music classes with Mrs. Pugliese! This week, she introduced a few Halloween songs. We will add a few to our own. In Physical Education, we played games to practice personal space. Mrs. Oliver visited and read a new book from the Library. On Friday, Group 2 visited the computer lab and made sand art with Mrs. Dixon. Group 1 stayed with Miss Jessica and played ABC games on the Epson Interactive Projector.
What a busy, busy week!
