On September 4th, we held our annual "Back-to-School" night. Many parents attended the event. Students of parents who attended will receive a dress-down day, awards were given for classes who had the largest percentage of parental attendance, and a door prize was awarded.
Monsignor Lyons said the Opening Prayer and thanked parents for the sacrifices they make to provide Catholic education for their children. He also thanked our teachers for the wonderful work they do in sharing their gifts and talents with our children. Then, Monsignor asked God to bless all parents, teachers, and students and to help us have a great school year.
Next, the president of our Home and School Association, Annie Kilkelly, spoke to parents. She asked parents to work toward becoming the best person they can be for Jesus. Throughout her very uplifting and inspiring talk, Mrs. Kilkelly focused on the importance of prayer and on growing spiritually. She asked everyone to be kind, thoughtful, and respectful - as Jesus wants us to be. She encouraged parents to be active in the school so that they can help with the work of the Committee, meet other parents, and be more involved in our school family. Following that, Mrs. Kilkelly introduced the very dedicated, energetic members of our Home and School Committee. Everyone applauded for the committee as they are such a wonderful help to our school.
Then, Mrs. Mummert introduced the Saint Joseph School faculty thanking them for the great care and outstanding education they provide for our students. Mrs. Mummert also updated parents on the progress of the School Move Study and the Adams Deanery School Study. She reminded parents of the importance of checking their accounts in the new FACTS Tuition Program because if payments are not made on time, late fees will be incurred. In closing, Mrs. Mummert thanked the Home and School Committee for the awesome activities and fundraisers that they provide to benefit our children. She also thanked all parents for the help and support they give throughout the year.
After the closing prayer, parents, teachers, and students enjoyed refreshments and some very nice social time. Parents also signed up to help the committee with the fundraisers and social activities that will be held this year.
