As my first school year serving as principal of St. Joseph School comes to a close, I would like to thank you for so warmly welcoming me into the St. Joseph community, and for allowing me the opportunity to serve you and your children. Truly, it has been a very rewarding experience for me, both professionally and personally. This is a fantastic community and I look forward to many more years together.
I find it hard to believe that our academic school year will come to a close at the end of next week. Our Pre-K and Kindergarten classes have already finished and our 8th grade will be graduating next Tuesday. Next week (week of May 22nd), students may wear their gym uniforms to school. The only exception to this is for the last day of school. On Friday, May 26th, we will be celebrating our closing mass. Students should dress up nicer with clothes appropriate for attending mass.
On Friday, May 26th, all students will report directly to school (at regular school drop off time) at the Grandview Road location. Students from the Elementary school that do not ride the bus should be dropped off by car to the entrance of the social hall/gym. Our closing school mass will be held at 8:30 a.m. at Saint Joseph Church. All are invited to attend. An awards ceremony will follow immediately after mass. At the completion of the awards ceremony, all students will be taken back to the classrooms by their teachers. Dismissal on Friday will be at 10:30 a.m. We ask that only one parent report back to the classrooms at that time to pick up your child(ren). PLEASE NOTE: There will not be bus service for dismissal.
This summer will be a busy season as we transition our Elementary school to the new building addition at Grandview Road. Aside from the physical move, we will be busy actively planning for not only the year to come, but for many years ahead. You should expect to receive an update prior to the beginning of our next school year with the progress that is make this summer.
I encourage you and your family to have fun, celebrate your faith together and plan time to keep our children’s academic skills sharp. I will keep you in my prayers for a safe, happy and healthy summer. I also hope that we see each other at Saint Joseph’s church celebrating mass and praying together. We will send out school supply lists, information regarding school uniforms, and summer assignments so that we can be prepared for a successful start of the new school year ahead.
On behalf of Monsignor Lyons and all the faculty and staff of the school and parish, I look forward to an outstanding upcoming school year, and wish everyone a happy, healthy, safe, and peaceful summer.
God bless you and your family,
Mr. Terrance Golden
