Dear Parents and Guardians,
God has truly blessed us as we began this new school year. Our students are surrounded by their classmates, are taught by teachers who are committed to Catholic education, are formed in the tenets of the faith all within buildings suited for education. We thank God for these wonderful gifts. Then we read of the devastation in Texas and Florida brought on by two powerful hurricanes. We are moved to pray for them but we are also moved to assist Catholic Schools in these areas. Our deanery is partnering with St. Cecilia School and St. John Paul II School in Houston, both K-8 schools whose families are looking to us for help. They need to replenish school supplies and school uniforms. As many of them are without work as the clean-up continues at their perspective businesses, they also need assistance with tuition. The Assistant Superintendent spoke of the need to help these families who are committed to a Catholic education. In Jacksonville, we have been asked to partner with St. Paul School which suffered damage to the property itself as a result of the flooding. Re-building parts of the school will be instrumental in providing the education that has been the stalwart of Catholic schools. To this end, St. Francis School, St. Joseph School and St. Teresa of Calcutta School of the Adams Deanery, will be accepting monetary donations to assist these schools. We are also blessed in knowing that our donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to $20,000 by Conewago Enterprises. As we find in 1 John 4:7, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and he who loves is born of God and knows God.” As Jesus said in Matthew 25, “Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me….Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.” Please send your donation in to our school office. Donations will be accepted through October 25. One check will be mailed to each of the three partner schools. Prayers will continue throughout this school year. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Please make your check payable to: Saint Joseph School (please include “Hurricane Relief” in the memo section of your check). God Bless, Mr. Terrance H. Golden, M.Ed. Principal
