Throughout the season of Lent, our students made sacrifices to contribute to the Rice Bowl Collection. Our students learned about this special collection and the importance of praying for and giving to the poor through a video on the Diocesan internet that our Bishop, Bishop Ronald Gainer, made for his people. Our students collected $650 in donations for the Rice Bowl Collection. The money will assist the poor in two ways: 1) 25% of the money stays in the Harrisburg Diocese, and is used in the Matthew 25 distribution to a variety of needs throughout the Diocese; and 2)the remainder of the money will be sent to Catholic Relief Services, whose work around the world in disaster relief, health education, and agriculture has assisted many impoverished area with building their lives.
We thank our school families for showing their love and kindness towards others by giving so generously to help the poor.
Mr. Terrance Golden
