On Friday, April 11th, we held our 13th annual RACE FOR EDUCATION. Our students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 ran laps and raised funds for our school by asking sponsors to contribute donations.
The event was a great success! We had cool, beautiful weather which was perfect for jogging. Many Mom and Dad volunteers helped with setting up for the event, counting the students' laps , and providing refreshments for our students after the "Race." We were also pleased that many grandparents, parishioners and friends came to the event and shared in the fun. In true "Shamrock Spirit," Monsignor Lyons joined the effort and ran laps with our students.
All students who participated by bringing donations competed for a number of prizes and awards including Dress Down Days, Plush Stuffed Toys, and Special Medals. The student who brings in the highest dollar amount of donations by May 9th wins the Grand Prize of $25. The class that brings in the highest dollar amount in donations by May 9th will receive $100. in educational materials.
We thank Mrs. Mary Kate Catlin, the chairperson for our Race, for her many hours of work in organizing and providing the event. We also thank our Home and School Advisory Committee for sharing their time and talent to help with the "Race" and all the events that support our school.
Mr. Terrance Golden
