Mrs. Gilbert is our 6th Grade homeroom teacher.  She instructs 6th, 7th, and 8th grade in Social Studies and Religion.

This site will be used to record long term assignments.  It will not be used for daily homework, which will be posted in the physical classroom.  Be sure to check the white board daily.

Religion:   We will continue to study Chapter 8 this week which deals with the Israelites' journey to the Promised Land.
                   ​   
Social Studies:  We have now moved south to Latin America.  There will be a map and vocabulary test on Febtuary 2.  Students should be studying.  We will have a guest speaker from Guatemala on Friday.

Math:

Science:  The 6th graders are currently studying the Earth, Moon, and Sun System.  Students are encouraged to study their notes and study guides to be ready for the chapter test next week. (November 2)

Spelling: Each week all students receive a list of 20 words which they will study for the Friday test.  Any student who scores a 100% on the weekly test does not have to do the weekly assignment of writing the list words 5X's.  Students look forward each Monday to seeing if they are a "Spelling Star."

English:   After the chapter test on Pronouns, we will begin working on adjectives .  Lessons 3.1 through 3.3will be our focus this week.  The students are encouraged to create study cards/notecards with information that they may reference during the test.  Students who do this find the cards to be helpful.  Check with your child to see if he or she is taking advantage of this extra help.

7th Grade

​ Religion:   ​We will continue studying Chapter 7 this week.  A chapter test is anticipated on Feb. 7th.
Father Miller is visiting us during our class time on Wednesday mornings.  
                                            
Social Studies:  We have concluded our study of Unit 1.  We have now begun Chapter 5.  Students will be assigned a project on The French and Indian War in Pennsylvania this week.  It will be due on February 6th. 
​                             There will be a section1 quiz on Feb. 2.

he students' binders will be collected at the end of each chapter for a grade on organization and completeness.  All binders were set up the first week of school.

Science:  Our 7th grade class has been studying the skeletal and muscular systems.  They have learned the proper names of many bones and muscles as well as the functions of these systems.  Each student has dissected an owl pellet and arranged a display of the skeletons of the owl's prey.  This week we will study the skin and begin our review for the chapter test on Tues., 10/25/22.  A small quiz on the muscles is scheduled for this Tuesday, 10/18/22.  Keep studying!

eligion:   This week we will continue to look at the Liturgy of the Eucharist and the Communion Rite.  Students will be making a poster to help them remember the various parts.  We sill also be creating Valentine gifts for shut-ins this week.

                 
Social Studies:   We have begun Chapter 21 dealing with life at the turn of hte 20th century.  We will not be spending much time on this chapter.           

As we did last year, the students' binders will be collected at the end of each chapter for a grade on organization and completeness.​

Science​: Eighth graders are studying rocks and minerals.  I encourage all students to study the notes and study guide regularly. Lesson quizzes and foldable projects will be used for each lesson.  Class participation is also part of the science grade.
