We had so much fun with our ocean and pirate theme this week!  I took many pictures and will try to get them loaded to our website soon.  I will also try to post some to our Google Classrooms.  If you need help accessing our Google Classrooms, please let me know.

FANTASTIC FOURS
  • Religion – We completed our unit “God Made Friends” and began “God Made Helpers.”
  • Literacy – We completed our activities for the letter B and began learning about the letter C.  We’ve been learning to trace our names, identify rhyming words, segment words into syllables, and review the alphabet.
  • Math – We’re continuing to review colors and shapes.  We put numbers 1-6 in the correct order to make a pirate picture.  We are also learning about patterns.
  • Science – This week we learned about the ocean.  We were able to take virtual field trips to “visit” many live aquarium feeds.  We learned about coral and created our own coral reef sculptures.
TERRIFIC THREES
  • Religion & Science – We are continuing to learn about our 5 sense.  We’ve learned about hearing, sight and smell.
  • Literacy – We’ve been doing a lot of fine motor work in our “Smart Books.”  We’ve practiced cutting and gluing, and drew pirate treasure with sparkly gel pens.  We also have read several new stories.
  • Math – We continue to learn about the colors.  This week, we focused on the color yellow.  We also learned to sort objects by size.
IMPORTANT DATES
  • September 25 – Picture Day for Fantastic Fours
  • September 30 – NO SCHOOL
  • October 9 – Color Street Mom’s Night Out
  • October 12 – NO SCHOOL
  • October 22 – Terrific Threes Picture Day
  • October 24 – Fall Fest
  • October 29-30 – Halloween Celebrations (More information will we sent home soon.)

REMINDERS & UPDATES
  • Terrific Threes children do not need towels or toys.  We can use our carpet in the classroom and have started small play groups in the morning.  I apologize for any confusion.  I am still making adjustments to see how things will work best.
  • Fantastic Fours children do not need toys.  We have started small morning play groups.  They may still bring a towel.  Most of them like it for rest time.  They may also bring a few books to look at during rest time.  We have several children who do not nap, but enjoy looking at books during quiet time.
  • Please complete any of the office forms for back to school ASAP.
  • Terrific Threes, please be sure to pay your milk fee for August and September.
  • As the weather gets chillier, please make sure your child has a jacket for outside play.  Please put your child’s name in the jacket.

We had busy and productive first full week of school!  Our newsletter can be found here.   I sent home a calendar last week.  This is our Show & Tell calendar for the month of September.  The children may each bring one item of their choice to share with us.  The calendar can be downloaded here.

First Week of School

August 28, 2020
Welcome back to school!  We had an amazing first week of school!  I am very impressed with how well the children did with personal space and masks!  I’m sure as our time together continues, these new routines will become easier.
After the first week of school, there are a few things I’d like to tweak for each class.
FANTASTIC FOURS
  • In the initial chaos of dismissal this first week, some students inadvertently went home without a sticker. A few lost if on the way out of the building, and unfortunately, I missed a few students on their way out.  I apologize for the confusion, but all the children did a great job this week and did earn their stickers!
  • Please pack a snack for your child each morning.
  • I am returning all of the morning drink fees.  The children seem to prefer drinking from their water bottles at snack.  If you had a credit from last year, we are working on getting that back to you.
  • Starting next week, I will have cinch sacks that the children can keep their towel and a small bag of toys in for the week.  I know that the totes become heavy and are hard for them to carry each day.  I will send the cinch sacks home on Fridays for everything to be cleaned.
  • If you have not done so, please return the back to school paperwork ASAP.

TERRIFIC THREES
  • Please remember to pack a morning snack for your child.
  • We will continue to get milk for the children.  The milk fee is $4 per month (or $40 for the school year.)
  • I’ve rearranged things a bit and we are able to social distance our rug spots enough that the children do not need to bring a towel to sit on.
Please complete and return all back to school paperwork ASAP.
